80 percent glock 17

80 Percent Glock 17 - Released in November 2019, the original GST-9 has taken 80% of the world by storm, offering classic modifications to the Glock style system without losing parts accuracy. Two years and hundreds of thousands of rounds down the line, we've raised the bar again with the GST-9 MOD1.

With two years of feedback from our customers, we have made some changes to our GST-9 framework to keep up with the competition. First, we moved the gas pedals forward and redesigned them to increase frame control through the cycle, helping to push the gun back on target faster and more efficiently. We've also redesigned the top of our modern grip attachment so that every grip option gives you the perfect fit, for the cleanest build possible. Inside, we have split the previous track system to improve the builder's experience, with users now only having to adjust one hole at a time, further simplifying the construction process.

*MOD1 does not accept Glock 17 slides. MOD1 frame accepts Glock 19, Glock 19L, & Glock 19XL slides*

Due to recently changed ATF regulations we cannot legally include a jig or rail frame with the MOD1 frame. The jig frame and MOD1 must be purchased as two separate items on our website. Each jig consists of one set of MOD1 frames. You will need to purchase one jig for each MOD1 frame you plan to build. Only the rail is attached to the jig, without the 80% lower head.

The Polymer80 PF Series Complete Pistol Frame Parts Kit fits the PF940v2, PF940C, PF940SC frame assembly. To give the end user multiple options with one kit, Polymer80 includes two… Let's go ahead and get this out of the way. If you are reading this to see if the Polymer 80 Glock is easy to build, let me answer you now. Yes, that's right. It's easy to do, and I believe anyone can do it. Polymer 80 Glocks are easy to build and the one I'm looking at right now was built using the included 80 weight jig, a Dremel and a hand drill. It took me a few hours, and some sanding, but now it runs like a pro. If you are on the fence, just consider doing it.

Glock Poly Pistol Frame Jig Kit

Now that we've got some hurdles out of the way, let's move on to talking about the Polymer 80 Glock I built and give it a quick review. PF940V2 full size model that uses either a Glock 17, 22, 34, 24, 35, 31 or 17L slide. Most of us would probably build a Glock 17 or 34. I went with the 17. Now for sale at Rockey Brass!

Polymer 80 Glocks use Gen 3 parts, which are common and easy to find. I went with a Glock 17 display which is a Larry Vickers special edition, a Bear Creek Arsenal barrel, and Glock OEM parts. The Glock kit includes an extended magazine release and slide lock.

I find the Poly 80 frame to be better than the Glock OEM frame in many ways. It has no fingerprint, which is amazing. It uses a 19-degree 1911 grip angle versus Glock's 22-degree grip, which is more comfortable and natural. The rail is a true Picatinny rail with a Glock rail system. The back of the gun also has a dovetail that you won't find with an OEM Glock frame. The PF940V2 is the original American Glock.

As you know America does it better. All of these changes to the smaller frame make the Glock more ergonomic and easier to handle. Polymer80's squeegee is more comfortable for me, but that's really all that matters. It feels more natural, but if you've been behind a Glock for years, it might feel strange to you.

Geisler 19/23x Pistol Blank

One thing I like about the Polymer80 Glock is the addition of the beaver tail. The problem I run into with Glocks is the clip bite. If I hold the gun well and hide it the slide will bite me every round and eventually break the skin. The 80 polymer frame does not deliver the same sliding bite. The extra beavertail protects you from this, and gives you more leverage to combat muzzle rise.

Once you get the gun running reliably, you probably won't notice much of a difference in accuracy with the Polymer 80. The frame is unlikely to affect accuracy. This makes the gun more comfortable to shoot and easier to control. I think the Polymer 80 addresses a lot of the criticism that the Glock gets. Even Glock has eliminated the fingerprint on the new generation of Glock handguns.

The undercarriage with the wrong frame is aftermarket. You lose convenience with so many different holsters, and so many different accessories. Some internal components such as triggers will still be very compatible. However, accessories such as magwells will no longer be suitable.

Another weakness is reliability. You have to ask yourself if you trust your skills as a gunsmith? I personally did not. I will not use my Polymer80 Glock as a defensive weapon unless I have to. Although I haven't experienced any reliability issues, I prefer the Glock OEM pistol for defense use. The good news is that you can buy a complete Poly 80 frame, but it requires an FFL transfer on all the parts you need to assemble the gun.
